Longarm Quilting

Hey, quilter!

We can see it now. You've finally finished your latest masterpiece. Maybe the process went smooth as butter, or maybe you spent more than one night crying over your seam ripper. No matter how your journey has been so far, your precious quilt top is finished and it's time to consider the next step.

That's where we come in. As quilters ourselves, we understand the blood, sweat, and tears that go into every project, and the deep desire for every quilt to come out exactly as we dreamed it. We know you don't want this latest top to become another layer in a stack of unfinished quilts, and we don't want that for you either.

When you choose Bobbin & Bee to quilt your piece, you can trust that we'll love it like you love it, and do everything in our power to make your dream quilt a reality. We are a small family owned business, passionate about offering you the best services we can, utilizing some of the best equipment available, all at affordable prices. Our studio is clean and smoke-free.

Our Machines:

We have a Bernina Q20 Long Arm Quilting Machine (The Beastie) as well as a Bernina 770QE for sewing and embroidery.

Quilt Preparation Checklist:

We want you to be absolutely thrilled with your quilt when we return it. In order to set us up for maximum success, be sure to go through the checklist below carefully. Please remember that machine quilting cannot correct any errors made during sewing and assembly, and we will communicate anything that may be of concern after we receive your piece.

  1. In order to properly load your quilt onto our longarm quilting machine, your backing must extend a minimum of 4” further than the quilt top on all four sides. The maximum quiltable width our machine can accept is 106”. And, the maximum width of your quilt back must be less than 120". (We cannot accept bed sheets or blankets as a backing fabric.)
  2. All threads must be trimmed.
  3. The quilt top and backing must be flat and well pressed; any embroidery or applique must lay flat without loose fabric or threads, no embellishments (buttons, sequins, pins), etc.
  4. If the quilt top or backing is directional, please indicate with a pinned note.

Quilting:

Currently, we offer end-to-end machine quilting. This means the design begins on one end of the quilt and repeats across to the other end, down the length of the quilt. Most designs can be nested, meaning they will flow together naturally rather than appearing as rows. End-to-end quilting is the perfect option if you're looking to give your piece a classic, no-fuss finish, saving you hours of potentially frustrating work on your home machine.

You can find our current catalog of available pantographs at the bottom of this page. If you would like a pantograph that isn't listed, please contact us, as we are always adding new designs to our library! You can also rest assured that every pantograph we offer has been tested on our machine to ensure they meet our standard of excellence.

At this time we are not offering quilting customized to your piecing, but keep checking back as we may offer it in the future!

Pricing:

$0.02 per square inch. For example, if your quilt top is 90”x100”, that’s 9,000 square inches (multiply width by height). 9,000 x $0.02 = $180.00

Batting:

You have the option of providing your own batting or we can use Warm and Natural Cotton Needled Batting from the Warm Company, which we use in all of our own quilts. If you would like us to supply batting, you will be billed at a rate of $0.32 per linear inch.

Thread:

We use 100% cotton thread from Connecting Threads.

Normally, the same thread will be used for both the bottom and top stitches and cannot be changed once we have started quilting, so please choose your color carefully to ensure it suits both the front and back of your piece. If you would like the bobbin thread to be a different color than the top, please let us know.

Trimming:

We offer complimentary trimming of any extra backing and batting once quilting is complete. Please indicate whether you would like this service or prefer to trim yourself. This process is not to be considered as “squaring up” your quilt.

Binding:

At this time, we do not offer a quilt binding service.

Completion Times:

At this time, completion dates are calculated upon receipt of your quilt top and backing at our studio. While quality is our number one priority, we understand that time is also important, and we strive to finish every piece as swiftly as possible.

We only accept US Customers at this time.
